Holiday dinners are upon us and cooking can feel overwhelming. You’re probably trying to plan a massive feast or cook a ham the size of a basket ball!
But don’t worry things aren’t that complicated and below are some tips and recipes for cooking holiday hams.
RAW & PRE-COOKED HAMS
One thing that many people don’t realize is that those hams we buy at the supermarket are often smoked or pre-cooked. This means you’re basically reheating it for dinner or you could simply slice and serve cold.
If the ham is raw you’re most definitely going to want to cook your ham until it reaches an internal 155F.
SWEET ORANGE GLAZE:
In a small sauce pan combine:
1 cup orange juice
3 shots Crown Royal
3 tbsp grainy honey mustard
1/4 cup Honey ( try Peace River’s Pineapple Jalapeño Honey to spice it up!)
3/4 cup brown sugar
Bring sauce to a boil and remove from heat. When your ham’s cook has about 30 minutes left pour the mixture generously all over the ham (ensure it’s in a pan or serving dish). Continue to cook your ham for 15-30 minutes and you’ll have a wonderful glazed finish.

This was a helpful read, especially if you’re the one handling the holiday ham this year. The breakdown of simple steps makes the whole process feel much less stressful. I also liked how you pointed out the small prep details that people usually forget.
By the way, anyone who’s double-checking baking ingredients during the holidays might find this useful too: is bicarbonate of soda the same as baking soda. It clears up a common mix-up at the perfect time of year.
