Taking the traditional concept of bacon wrapped brussel sprouts and leaving them on their harvested stalk is a fun way to draw attention to these tasty bites. Plus serving them with the toothpicks still in makes it easy for your guests to slice off a head and have a pick to hold.
This makes a delicious appetizer. Serve on a rustic platter and garlic aioli to dip.
Bacon Wrapped Brussels Sprout RECIPE
INGREDIENTS:
Bacon
Brussel Sprouts
BBQ Rub of your choice
DIRECTIONS TO MAKE:
1. Take one fresh stalk of fresh brussel sprouts. Wash generously.
2. Remove any sprouts that are too close together or cause the bacon to be pressed too tight against another head.
3. Wrap each head with half a slice of uncooked bacon and use a tooth pick to hold it. Leave the toothpick out about half way (for serving)
4. Sprinkle with a light sweet seasoning. I used a smoky honey BBQ rub.
5. Grill (or bake) at 350F for 25-35 minutes depending on the thickness of bacon and desired crispiness. I turned after 20 minutes.
5. Serve with fresh garlic aioli. Include a knife on your platter for guests to cut off their sprout.
Notes: I used half a stalk for my recipe and it used a full pack of bacon.
